Prolonged: Ticket to the strange world

AN EXHIBITION ABOUT THE JOY OF TRAVEL.

In times when travel is almost impossible, all we have left is to dream of faraway places. The exhibition in the annex of the Thun-Panorama takes the former function of the panorama picture as a substitute for travel as its starting point and builds a bridge to today – where we unexpectedly had to do without traveling. The focus of the exhibition Ticket to a Foreign World shows from an art historical as well as an everyday scientific perspective what meaning travel has for us and that the generation of images as an alternative to travel were not only relevant in Marquard Wocher’s time, but can still be relevant today.
