Susanne Keller. Hinterkammer des Auges

01. March – 29. November 2026

Zurich-based multidisciplinary artist Susanne Keller (b. 1980) will offer surprising perspectives, insights and outlooks in her exhibition in the glass annex of the Thun-Panorama. Alongside seven viewing box objects, she will present the photo series Körner Gaumen mundet and a selection of texts and poems. Drawing on the theme of Marquard Wocher’s (1760–1830) panoramic painting, where the city is presented as a stage and its inhabitants as actors, Keller’s model-like viewing boxes likewise bring attention to the theatrical and cryptic aspects of art. Made from simple materials such as cardboard, wood, acrylic paint, metal and cut-out pictures, the viewing boxes merge with reverie-like postcard-sized photographs and poems to create a dense, poetic realm of imagination. Upon entering the exhibition space, viewers themselves become participants in the posterior chamber of the eye.
