The Kunst-museum Thun is taking part in the initiative Kultur inklusiv.
We have been participating for the past 5 years.
We develop offerings for people who need extra support.
This includes texts in simple language.
Each text is checked by experts.

My name is Christian Oppliger.
I am between 40 and 50 years old.
I am from Bern.
I have been working at SILEA for 17 years.
My hobbies are travelling and cycling.

Why did you sign up for the review team?
When I was little, I went to the art museum with my parents.
I did not understand the text next to the pictures.
I once helped out with an exhibition at the art museum.

Why simple language?
For many people, normal texts are difficult to read.
The sentences are too long.
There are funny words.
The letters are too small.
Texts in simple language are easier to understand.

Our task
We have been visiting the art museum for 4 years.
We go to the art museum about 3 to 4 times a year.
There are texts for each exhibition.
Anna-Lisa Schneeberger writes the text in simple language.
She is an art educator.
She sets a date for us to come to the museum.
We look at the pictures.
A reviewer reads the text next to the picture.
We take turns reading.

We check the text.
Did Anna-Lisa Schneeberger write it correctly?
Do we understand the text?
Is one of the words too difficult?
Do we need to look for new words?
Does a long word need to be hyphenated?
Does the sentence need to be shortened?

We decide.
Is the text in simple language?
Can the text be used as it is?
Should the text be written more simply?
Does a long word need to be hyphenated?

We love going to the art museum.
The art museum is a beautiful building.
The people are all friendly.
Reading is tiring.
We have to concentrate.
We look forward to taking a break.
Then we can have a cup of coffee.
